the Family Supper

HIGH POINT OF THE WEEK: Finding the perfect, quick and easy Family Supper
LOW POINT OF THE WEEK: Missing out on Carolyn’s amazing Lime and Mint Curd Cake with Cream and Strawberries! Saw it on Facebook on all it’s glory!
QUOTE OF THE WEEK: “The most remarkable thing about my mother is that for thirty years she served the family nothing but leftovers. The original meal has never been found.”
― Calvin Trillin (American journalist, humorist, food writer, poet, memoirist and novelist.)
DRIVEL OF THE WEEK:
A friend of mine last week was in the Co-Op buying supper when the lady behind her looked at my friend’s shopping and smiled, ‘Chilli tonight then?’ The same friend was in the Co-Op last night and again a shopper was studying the contents of my friend’s shopping basket and laughed, saying ‘Spag Bol for supper then?’ My friend was mortified – she felt she had been caught out twice in a very short period of time for two unimaginative suppers that have been served time and time again.
Don’t get me wrong though, I would never criticise those two very important family staples! They are regularly on my meal planning list! It’s so hard to come up with a different and economical family supper every night, not to mention something that will suit every member of the family, whatever their age! So this morning I went through the recipes on our website and have put together a few of my favourite family suppers! I feel very proud that so many of our products really do help making that decision about ‘What to cook’ so much easier – a few ingredients plus one of our dressings can turn a meal into something a little bit different! After all our mission statement is ‘Just Add Food’! So take away the stress this week, purchase a few of our products, put them in your stock cupboard and next time inspiration is lacking we will be there to help! Have a good week.
