Paul Hollywood’s Lemon Drizzle Cake

Newcastle’s The TeaShed raves about Paul Hollywood‘s Lemon Drizzle Cake and our very own Lemon Curd

HIGH POINT: The amazing Hadleigh Show – what a wonderful example of a perfect English country show – full of delicious people and delicious products.

LOW POINT: Dogs!  Truffle disgraced herself by eating a whole tray of roasted veg which I had made for a week’s worth of lunches.  Although her diet that day was particularly healthy she did not smell at all nice during Britain’s Got Talent on Saturday night.  Our other dog, Treacle (who is 93 in human years) is now too old to make it on to the sofa on her own and has to be helped.  Not a good weekend for her either!

QUOTE OF THE WEEK:

“Old dogs, like old shoes, are comfortable. They might be a bit out of shape and a little worn around the edges, but they fit well.”
-Bonnie Wilcox

OBSERVATION OF THE WEEK

It was lovely seeing us mentioned in The TeaShed’s blog this week so thank you to Jules Quinn for that. (Try their tea – it’s fab!)  Jules recommended our Lemon Curd when making Paul Hollywood’s Lemon Drizzle Cake.  Another Paul Hollywood fan!  And for those of you who read last week’s blog, my scones (or Paul’s to be perfectly honest) that I baked for our Scarlett & Mustard HQ Friday Bake Day went down well, thank goodness.  I had a slight cause for concern when Colonel Mustard returned from a visit up north with some extremely delicious chocolate chip biscuits but fortunately my scones topped with jam (or our curd) and cream won the day!

And if you are looking for a quick snack this evening or a yummy lunch tomorrow, my current favourite is a slice (or two) of toasted Pump Street Bakery Bread topped with avocado, Purely Pesto‘s Tapenade and our Tomato Salsa.  Perfect for all you Raw & Cured converts!
