boxes and boxes of yummy stuff on the way to her stand at The Suffolk Show

It’s Suffolk Show Week!
HIGH POINT OF THE WEEK: The Beccles Food & Drink Festival – simply amazing – our best single day EVER!
LOW POINT OF THE WEEK: Realising our lawn (sorry I mean muddy mossy area outside the house) will never be a lawn despite various attempts by many people.
QUOTE OF THE WEEK:
“The Suffolk Show is a unique celebration of food, farming and the countryside” Suffolk Show website
Someone asked me last week what I would be wearing to this year’s Suffolk Show. They were obviously having terrible problems with their wardrobe! Smart, casual, comfortable, dress up, dress down, wellies, heels, trainers? No such worries for us whatsoever as we will be sporting our ‘Scarlett & Mustard’ orange shirts and enjoying two days of talking to people about what we love best – dressings, curds, oils and salsas!
‘Local’ is so important to us so supporting the biggest ‘local’ event in the county that helped put us on the map means a lot to us. We love to join the rest of the Suffolk band of food producers especially those who are central to our products such as Hillfarm Oils. But it’s not just about ‘Suffolk’ – visiting shows up and down the country helps keep us in touch with what you all really want. And that is a product with provenance. A product that tastes like it should do – like it used to. And a product where every ingredient is chosen with care.
THIS WEEK’S RECIPE
Home “sun” dried cherry tomatoes with our Basil Oil and Suffolk Sea Salt
I used very ripe cherry tomatoes from Norfolk’s Friendly Tomato Co. Cut them in half lengthways and place on a baking tray. Turn the oven to 70 degrees and simply leave them in there for a few hours until a little shrivelled. Put them in a jar, drizzle a little of our Basil Oil and sprinkle some sea salt over them. Eat with Purely Pesto Tapenade on some toasted bread from either Pump St Bakery or The Two Magpies Bakery (Southwold). Keep in the fridge. Easy!
